New Romances v1 #10, 1952 - Being the new wife of a rising actor, Mary never dreamed that their marriage would be kept secret for the sake of his career. Alex Toth's layout and sense of pacing outshine the rest of the book. His draftsmanship is admirable, streamlined somewhat by the inks of Mike Peppe. The opening panel is particularly good, capturing the anguish of the main character through body language (see interior page below). Other artists in this golden age comic include John Celardo.
