Wartime Romances v1 #16, 1953 - Matt Baker's cover scene is frenetic, yet beautifully orchestrated. A woman clings to her soldier boyfriend with marriage application firmly in hand. Her clothing colors allow her shapely figure to stand out against the olive green uniforms. Unrelated, Baker's interior story features a pretty blonde who flits between men, unsure of her choices. His illustrations are beautifully rendered, varied in size and full of detail. Kudos go to Ray Osrin, whose inks enhance the glamor and sophistication of Baker's pencils. Other artists in this golden age comic include Ric Estrada.
