6. Dark Horse Presents v1 #62, 1992 - Marv has a final confrontation with Cardinal Roark and his sociopathic silent killer Kevin. Sin City's epic conclusion takes up the entire issue, including Frank Miller's graphic cover design. The timing, sequencing and layout of each page is extraordinary, even with the four full page splashes. At forty-eight pages, this is easily the longest of all the episodes, but neither drags nor diminishes the overall quality. Some of my favorite scenes include the elegant gathering of prostitutes on page 3 and the unexpected view from a belfry on page 34. With its high level of skill and craftsmanship, Miller sets a new standard for black and white illustration within the medium. This episode was later reprinted in the Sin City trade paperback. This is 12 of 13 Dark Horse Presents issues by Miller. /// Top 10 Miller comics
