Frank Frazetta |
Eerie v3 #3, 1966 -
Frank Frazetta begins the issue with his frightening cover of a luminescent sea creature. Inside,
Al Williamson chronicles the tale of a haunted lighthouse. This ghostly tale is rendered in a clean, contemporary style consistent with other late silver age works.
Alex Toth tells of an unconventional architect and his unusual dream house. Spontaneously drawn, his page layouts have a strong sense of design and pacing. Perhaps most surprising is
Steve Ditko's story of a night in a cursed hotel room. His artwork, using parallel and cross-hatched lines, has extraordinary depth and richness. Williamson's story was later reprinted in
Eerie v3 #42, Ditko's in >
Creepy #21 and
Eerie v3 #42 and Toth's in >
Eerie v3 #16,
Creepy #139,
Eerie v3 1972 annual and the
Alex Toth Doodle Book. Other artists in this bronze age magazine include Angelo Torres. This is 1 of 8
Eerie issues by
Ditko, 2 of 7 Eerie issues by
Frazetta, 2 of 5 Eerie issues by
Toth and 1 of 2 Eerie issues by
Williamson.
