Eerie v3 #64 |
Eerie v3 #64, 1975 -
Bernie Wrightson opens with a jarring, candle-lit portrait of Cousin Eerie. The high contrast effect boldly sets the tone for the rest of the book. This is but one of the many excellent intros he provided for Warren.
Alex Toth draws the tale of an alien crash landing on a farm, only to be nursed back to health by the family. Bill Dubay's wonderfully written tale is rendered with great care by Toth. Much of it is told in narration, allowing more room for the panel's visuals. The artist's soft gray washes (see interior page below) bring more dimension into the scenes. Like other bronze age works, Toth displays his mastery of storytelling. This tale was later reprinted in
Creepy #139 and
UFO and Aliens Comix #1. Other artists in this bronze age magazine include Richard Corben, Paul Neary and Jose Ortiz. This is 7 of 14
