Young Love v3 #78, 1970 - Pressured by her overbearing mother, Melanie pursues romance with a wealthy young man she has no feelings for. This four-part tale stretches across two different titles, unusual for the romance comics at the time. Alex Toth mostly sticks to a common six panel grid, but his drawings and layouts are more than capable. Vince Colletta's inks are typically simplistic but neither help nor hinder the pencils. Note Toth's masterful use of shadows on page 2, suggesting the somber tone of the scene (see interior page below). This story (later reprinted in Young Love #122) continues in Secret Hearts #141. Other artists in this bronze age comic include John Celardo. This is 3 of 4 Young Love issues by Toth.
