Shock Suspenstories #8 |
Shock Suspenstories v1 #8, 1953 - A teenage girl's accusation of kidnapping and rape results in the killing of her abductor by an angry mob. This exceptional work by Wally Wood is meticulously detailed, despite being confined to mostly small panels. His impressive faces and figure drawings are typical of his high standards during the EC years. Similarly, Al Williamson's tale is nearly as well crafted. His linework is equally sensitive, but with far less contrast. In his story, Martians await the arrival of a lone spaceship, carrying the survivors of Earth's nuclear holocaust. Williamson's lizard-like aliens are commonplace during this era, but used most appropriately in this tale. Other artists in this golden age comic include George Evans and Jack Kamen. Cover by Al Feldstein. This is 1 of 1 Shock Suspenstories issues by Williamson and 7 of 14 Shock Suspenstories issues by Wood.
