Weird War Tales #69 - non-attributed Alex Nino art, Joe Kubert cover

Joe Kubert
Weird War Tales v1 #69, 1978 - Knocked out by enemy missiles, a small army awakens after centuries, discovering a world of primitive mutants. Alex Nino opens with a full page splash, featuring twisted and mangled humanoids forms. His eclectic style is purposely sharp and disturbing. Some faces and figures are overly distorted, but this is offset by his exacting page layouts. Contast Nino's approach with Joe Kubert's more traditionally horrific cover. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Romeo Tanghal, Bill Draut, Bob Smith and Howard Chaykin. This is 12 of 13 Weird War Tales issues by Nino and 27 of 51 Weird War Tales issues by Kubert. /// Nino gallery
