Creepy v1 #7, 1965 - Count Dracula savagely defends himself against a werewolf on this gripping Frank Frazetta cover. The scene uses a drab color palette, but the background has a strangely ethereal quality. The artist also draws a single page on monsters around the world. Though black and white, the artwork is comparable in quality. Alex Toth's tale features a wealthy businessman and his recurring nightmares of impalement. Along with skillful drawings, the artist uses diagonally shaped panels to create an unsettling mood (see interior page below). This story was later reprinted in Creepy #23 and #139, while Frazetta's cover was re-used for Eerie v3 #124. Other artists in this bronze age magazine include Angelo Torres, John Severin, Reed Crandall and Joe Orlando. This is 7 of 15 Creepy issues by Frazetta and 3 of 15 Creepy issues by Toth.
