Marvel Super Special #16 / Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back - Al Williamson art & cover

Marvel Super Special v1 #16: Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back, 1980 - One of his longest stories to date, Al Williamson adapts the second landmark Star Wars film. Drawn in a sharply delineated style, the ninety-plus page magazine has plenty of fine moments. Renditions of Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Darth Vader are especially good. Sensitively detailed panels reside within a wide variety of layouts. Williamson masterfully uses dramatic lighting to heighten many of the key scenes. In addition, Carlos Garzon's inks faithfully maintain the integrity of the pencils. Other artists in this issue include Bob Larkin (cover). This is number 1 of 3 Marvel Super Special issues with Williamson art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Williamson, Star Wars or Marvel Super Special issues.
