World's Finest Comics #259 |
World's Finest Comics v1 #259, 1979 - When an interstellar policeman pursues his fugitive to Earth, Green Arrow and Hawkman intervene to get the facts. Two different inkers assist penciller
Don Newton, but with drastically different results. Don Hunt adds depth and drama, whereas Vince Colletta poorly defines the original drawings. Newton's second story features Captain Marvel and details the origin of Mr. Tawny. Like Hunt, Kurt Schaffenberger proves to be a capable inker. This story was later reprinted in
Shazam! The World's Mightiest Mortal #3. A Black Lightning tale rounds out the book, but
Marshall Rogers' layouts are dampened by his two mediocre inkers. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Rich Buckler and Dick Giordano. This is 7 of 28
World's Finest Comics issues by
Newton and 1 of 1 World's Finest Comics issues by
Rogers.

The Vince Colletta inks were bolder than his usual fine-line work, I liked it.
