Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #44 - Carl Barks art

Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #44, 1944 - Donald Duck snatches his nephews’ chemistry set, intent on creating powerful new inventions. Carl Barks experiments with anthropomorphic cars and supercharged rockets in this wildly spun tale. His imagination even takes Donald to the moon and back (see interior page below). Barks' modeling and detail of the lunar landscape is an unexpected plus, especially for a "funny animal" comic. Other characters featured in this issue include Mickey Mouse and Bucky Bug.
