Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #44 |
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #44, 1944 - Donald Duck snatches his nephews’ chemistry set, intent on creating powerful new inventions.
Carl Barks experiments with anthropomorphic cars and supercharged rockets in this wildly spun tale. His imagination even takes Donald to the moon and back (see interior page below). Barks' modeling and detail of the lunar landscape is an unexpected plus, especially for a "funny animal" comic. This story was later reprinted in
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #301 and >
Donald Duck Adventures #15. Other features in this issue include Mickey Mouse and Bucky Bug. Other artists in this golden age comic include Al Taliaferro. Cover by Walt Kelly. This is 13 of 280
