House of Secrets v1 #85, 1970 - In a sorcerous tale from the Middle Ages, a heroic peasant faces two choices: taking up his sword against an evil wizard or asking a good wizard to fight in his behalf. Gil Kane's pencils are made more exceptional by Neal Adams' masterful inking. His additional highlights and shadows increase both drama and excitement. Already powerful figure drawings have greater volume and depth (this story was later reprinted in two separate parts in
Deadman #2 and
#3). Adams' cover is unrelated to the story, using a common theme of children and monsters. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Ralph Reese, Don Heck and Bill Draut. This is 4 of 9
