Danger Trail v1 #3, 1950 - In the Sahara desert, native Touregs fight the French Foreign Legion for dominance over the region. Oddly, the story is told from a battle flag’s point of view. Alex Toth draws his finest work of the series. His drawings and panel sequences are equally exemplary. His opening splash, a desert scene of machine guns converging on its targets, is impeccably designed. Toth allows the unprinted area to extend the sky beyond the confines of the page. Other artists in this golden age comic include Carmine Infantino and Joe Giella. This is 3 of 5 Danger Trail issues by Toth.
