Brave and the Bold v1 #43 presents Hawkman, 1962 - When Earth is threatened by manhawks, Hawkman and Hawkgirl return from Thanagar to neutralize these flying, masked marauders. One of his longer Hawkman tales to date, Joe Kubert delivers a superb effort. Three full page splashes allow for greater scale and space. These airborne scenes also divide the story into three distinct chapters. Page layouts are varied as well as inventive. Kubert’s cover is certainly eye-catching, but lacks some of the sheer boldness of his interiors. This is number 30 of 33 Brave and the Bold issues with Kubert art and/or covers (not including reprints).
