Two-Fisted Tales v1 #32, 1953 - Through the eyes of an old man, we witness Hannibal's great crossing the alps over 2,000 years ago. Every one of Wally Wood's pages is excruciatingly detailed, down to the armor and weaponry (see interior page below). The ensuing battle of over one hundred thousand soldiers is conveyed through intricately drawn panels. Shadows and highlights are designed to increase drama. One of many finest efforts for EC, this one reaches new breathtaking heights. Joe Kubert's tale informs us of the unsung navy demolition men, who paved the way for the D-Day invasion. Though his EC works have been few, his gritty visuals and deft sequencing make a worthy contribution. These stories were later reprinted in Two-Fisted Tales v2 #15. Other artists in this comic include Jack Davis and Johnny Craig.
