Manhunter Special Edition v1 #1, 1999 - Walt Simonson's complete Manhunter series has been reprinted before, but this deluxe edition also includes a brand new chapter. Drawn completely without dialogue or narration, the story takes place in the aftermath of Detective Comics #443. Simonson, known for his meticulous sequencing, delivers a superb example of visual storytelling. His style has clearly evolved from the 1970s, but still maintains the excitement of his earlier works (see interior page below). The reprints (Detective Comics #437-443) pale compared to the originals, but the new material makes this edition a worthy companion. /// key 1st issue
