9. Batman: The Dark Knight v1 #3, 1986 - While Superman tries to intervene on Batman's behalf, the Joker goes on a killing rampage. Carrie Kelly continues to earn her wings as the new Robin. While conceptually interesting, Frank Miller's cover still seems too minimal for my tastes. By comparison, his interiors are absolutely masterful. Each page is delicately paced and designed, upstaging the drawings themselves. Most astonishing are Miller's four full page splashes, two of which feature the heroes at their most iconic (see interior page below).
