Amazing Spider-man v1 #5, 1963 - Dr. Dooms tries, and fails, to recruit Spider-man in his personal war against the Fantastic Four. Steve Ditko's panels are numerous and dialogue-heavy at times, but his artwork remains enthusiastic. The most exciting scenes involve the battle between Dr. Doom and Spidey himself, where various weaponry and contraptions abound. Inventive forms and astute linework allow Ditko's creativity to shine. The FF make a brief cameo toward the story's end. This silver age story was later reprinted in Amazing Spider-man annual #2. This is 5 of 38 Amazing Spider-Man issues by Ditko.
