Boy Loves Girl #47 - Alex Toth art

Boy Loves Girl #47
Boy Loves Girl v1 #47, 1954 - With their wedding suddenly postponed, a young couple plays host to a visiting friend. Unfortunately, the bride-to-be finds herself attracted to her fiancee's buddy. The opening scene is more typically themed and composed in this Alex Toth tale. Text and dialogue are abundant within layouts that appear less carefully considered. Innocuous group gatherings on page 2, panel 5 and page 4, panel 6 are almost uncomfortably crowded. One saving grace is perhaps Toth's use of patterns and metaphors (hearts, bells, leaves, etc.) to add decoration and interest. Other artists in this issue include Fred Kida, Doug Wildey and Ben Brown. This is 3 of 3 Boy Loves Girl issues by Toth.
