Aces High #1 - Wally Wood art

Aces High v1 #1, 1955 - Reporting for duty, Tom Pomery finds himself ostracized by the other pilots within his squadron. Wally Wood's tale of youth and inexperience is drawn with the skill of a seasoned pro. World War One bi-planes glide across small yet singular panels. Wood's best work is an all-out dogfight, inset within the larger panel on page one. Other artists in this issue include Jack Davis and George Evans. This is number 1 of 5 Aces High issues with Wood art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Wood or Aces High issues. See also this blog's Wally Wood checklist.
