Batman #306 |
Batman v1 #306, 1978 - Concluding an "Unsolved Case of the Batman", a master of disguise blackmails the hero while conducting a murder spree. Don Newton's placement of light and shadow is splendid, typical of his best bronze age works. Lesser known are his occasional free-form montages, used to great effect on the opening splash. A gold wedding band, its accompanying box, a previous scene and the Batman himself are conjoined in a united layout. This story was later reprinted in Tales of the Batman: Don Newton #1. Other artists in this bronze age comic include John Calnan, Dave Hunt and Jim Aparo. Cover by Aparo. This is 2 of 32 Batman issues by Newton.
