Fightin' Marines v1 #15 (#1), 1952 - The last of his outfit to leave, Leatherneck Jack barely escapes the Communists with the help of a winsome woman. Matt Baker's back-up tale for this first issue is ably drawn with a minimum of fuss. The story's highlight is the opening panel, showing the couple's flirtations amid gunfire. As usual, the girl's figure is focal point. Baker's cover for this first issue may be a tad better, depicting a heroic scene within a triangular layout. This is 1 of 11 Fightin' Marines issues by Baker. /// key 1st issue / Baker gallery- - - - - - - - - -
