Fightin' Marines #15 (#1) - Matt Baker art & cover

Matt Baker
Fightin' Marines v1 #15 (actually #1), 1952 - The last of his outfit to leave, Leatherneck Jack barely escapes the Communists with the help of a winsome woman. Matt Baker's back-up tale for this first issue is ably drawn with a minimum of fuss. The story's highlight is the opening panel, showing the couple's flirtations amid gunfire. As usual, the girl's figure is focal point. Baker's cover may be a tad better, depicting a heroic scene within a triangular layout. This is number 1 of 11 Fightin' Marines issues with Baker art and/or covers (not including reprints). See today's posts, more Baker or Fightin' Marines issues. See also this blog's Baker checklist.
