Incredible Hulk v1 #6, 1963 - In a lengthy single feature story, the Hulk is challenged by the telekinetic powers of the
Metal Master (in his first appearance).
Steve Ditko steps in to pencil and ink the last of the series. Like the previous issues, his version of the character is brutish and massive, but perhaps a bit more menacing. The opening splash is masterful in its composition, portraying the Hulk defending himself against an onslaught of flying metal objects. Ditko's best scenes, however, are those where planes, missiles and other metals transform into almost putty-like material (pages 6, 9, 16, etc.). Aside from the Hulk's unusually stubby feet on the cover, Ditko's interpretation is powerful and memorable. This is 2 of 2
