Blue Beetle v5 #1, 1967 - Although this character appeared in the golden age, Charlton acquired the rights to the Blue Beetle during the 1960s. Ted Kord  makes his first appearance as the new version of the hero. Steve Ditko redesigns the outdated "masked adventurer" costume for one more suitable for the era. The issue's back-up feature marks the debut of reporter Vic Sage, who investigates crimes as The Question. The artist applies his fine artistic skills to both stories, most evident in the first opening splash. His drawings are well-crafted and confident throughout.
