Frontline Combat #14 - Wally Wood art & cover, Joe Kubert art

Frontline Combat v1 #14 ec golden age comic book cover art by Wally Wood
Wally Wood
Frontline Combat v1 #14, 1953Wally Wood's cover seems deceptively simple, yet competently laid out. Inside, the tale of downed pilot's rescue by seaplane is straightforwardly rendered. Devoid of combat action, a day in the life of a rescue crew seeks to inform rather than excite. Regardless, Wood's illustrations are top notch. In Joe Kubert's story, the greatest naval battle of the American Revolution is retold. Unlike the previous tale, destruction is rampant throughout, artfully drawn with expressive brushwork. Both stories were later reprinted in Frontline Combat v2 #14. Other artists in this golden age comic include Jack Davis and George Evans. This is 1 of 1 Frontline Combat issues by Kubert and 12 of 13 Frontline Combat issues by Wood. /// Wood gallery
