Captain America #103 - Jack Kirby art & cover

Captain America v1 #103, 1968 - Jack Kirby continues his run on Captain America's first solo book in twenty years. Some of the layouts seem slightly diminished from previous issues. The opening splash employs a visual metaphor, depicting the Red Skull's figure looming over Cap at a fine restaurant. The drawing looks especially strained, but the artist follows with several dynamic pages (including the hero underwater in the interior page below). Syd Shores continues to prove himself worthy of inking Kirby's splendid pencils. This is number 4 of 34 Captain America issues with Kirby art and/or covers.
