Race for the Moon #2 - Jack Kirby / Al Williamson art & cover

Jack Kirby / Al Williamson
Race for the Moon v1 #2, 1958 - Jack Kirby's cover works perfectly in sync with the masthead, although I prefer the interior page it was borrowed from. Al Williamson inks Kirby's pencils throughout the issue (with one exception), resulting in some exceptionally drawn pages. The pairing of these two artists is not only a rarity, but their disparate styles work unexpectedly well together. Additionally, neither Kirby nor Williamson tend to dominate in the final product. Out of the four splendid stories, "Lunar Trap" is marginally better than the rest. This is 2 of 3 Race for the Moon issues by Kirby and 1 of 2 Race for the Moon issues by Williamson. /// original page
