Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge v1 #17, 1957 - Uncle Scrooge bids a trillion dollars for Bombastium, a rare element with an as-yet-undiscovered use. Donald and his nephews accompany him to the South Pole in this thoroughly engaging Carl Barks tale. While the settings are sparse, the artist nonetheless delivers some amusing scenes. Among these is Scrooge's pursuit of his prize atop a leaping sperm whale. This lengthier-than-usual tale allows room left for a Gyro Gearloose four-pager. In this story, the wacky inventor outperforms a group of fishermen, using his wits rather than technology. "A Cold Bargain" was later reprinted in Uncle Scrooge #215. This is 17 of 70 Uncle Scrooge issues by Barks.
