Four Color Comics v2 #79 |
(Walt Disney's) Mickey Mouse v1 / Four Color v2 #79, 1945 - Carl Barks illustrates the only Mickey Mouse comic story that I'm aware of, doing an admirable job overall. The story begins on the inside front cover as a duotone then proceeds in full color on the remaining pages. Although his Mickey, Goofy, and Minnie are less distinctive, Barks' hand is most evident on the supporting characters. Policemen, gangsters, and a Minnie Mouse-sized gun moll are all drawn in his recognizable style. Although not exemplary, it's refreshing to see artwork other than his duck stories. This golden age story was later reprinted in Mickey and Donald #17. This is 1 of 1 Mickey Mouse issues by Barks.
