Green Lantern v1 #1, 1941 - First appearing in All-American Comics #16, the Emerald Avenger continued as a regular feature until the series' end in 1948. His first self-titled series began a year after his debut and ran concurrently with the aforementioned title. In this first issue, three full stories pit the hero against racketeers, political bosses and arsonists, respectively. For new readers, a two page recap of his origin serves as an introduction. Writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell are both featured in a text article within the book. Other artists in this issue include Art Helfant. Cover by Howard Purcell /// key 1st issue
