New Gods #19 |
New Gods v1 #19, 1978 - Although the last issue of the series, the storyline continues in
Adventure Comics #459. The drawings by
Don Newton use interesting variations in shape and placement of certain panels. The largest, showing a machine harnessing the pain of captured humans (pages 2-3) stands out aesthetically. The issue's high point is the opening splash, presenting a stony-faced Darkseid and his lackey. The dramatic lighting is one of Newton's trademarks and works effectively here. This story was later reprinted in
New Gods by Gerry Conway. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Joe Staton and Bob Layton. This is 7 of 7
New Gods issues by
Newton.
