Strange Tales v1 #151 featuring Nick Fury & Doctor Strange, 1966 - This is Jim Steranko's first effort for Marvel and more significantly, his first rendition of Nick Fury. Jack Kirby does the rough layouts, allowing the younger artist to acclimate to the Marvel style. Their cover is largely crowded and ill-composed, although the inking is better than expected. Steranko's interior art doesn't fare much better and his panels are overly busy. The scene of Nick Fury walking silently through ancient ruins is easily the highlight of the tale. This story was later reprinted in Shield #3. Other artists in this issue include Bill Everett. This is 1 of 18 Strange Tales issues by Steranko. /// Steranko gallery
