Limited Collectors Edition #C-41 - Alex Toth art & cover

Alex Toth
Limited Collectors Edition v1 #C-41 presents Super Friends, 1975 - During the 1960s and 70s, Alex Toth would create numerous character designs for the animation studio Hanna-Barbera. Super Friends featured his own depictions of Superman, Batman & Robin, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and others. Although an ongoing Super Friends comic series would begin a year later, Toth would only contribute to this large format issue. The artist's cover is appropriately kid-friendly, but Superman's face appears to have been edited. Compare it to the inside front cover, which does not appear modified. The bulk of the issue contains 1960s reprints from Justice League of America with some narrative framing pages. This edition also contains Toth's informative explanation on how tv cartoons are created. The text is written in his own precise handwriting with accompanying illustrations. Other artists in this treasury include Mike Sekowsky, Sid Greene and Bernard Sachs. This is 1 of 1 Limited Collectors Edition issues by Toth. /// original cover
