Uncle Scrooge #10 - Carl Barks art & cover

Carl Barks
Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge v1 #10, 1955 - The duck family embarks on a trip to Germany's Black Forest in search of the Philosopher's Stone, an object that can turn ordinary metals to gold. Their travels lead them to Crete and the Minotaur's mythical labyrinth. Carl Barks clearly enjoyed drawing Minoan architecture and interiors. In the second tale, Scrooge must fix a two hundred year old family watch to gain an uncle's inheritance (like he needed it). Despite its domestic setting and lack of visual flourish, it's still an enjoyable and amusing read. The cover and "The Fabulous Philosopher's Stone" were later reprinted in Uncle Scrooge #67 and #132. This is 10 of 70 Uncle Scrooge by Barks.
