Savage Combat Tales featuring Sgt Stryker's Death Squad v1 #2, 1975 - Atlas/Seaboard Comics' only foray into war books, this series was short-lived (as were many of their titles). Al McWilliams does an admirable job with the lead story but it's the Warhawk tale by
Alex Toth that is particularly noteworthy. His thin, impressionistic strokes complement his efficiently designed page layouts. Toth's bold opening splash of a WWII aerial dogfight is perfectly composed. The tilted horizon and other diagonal lines purposely suggests the sensation of flying. This is 1 of 1
