Iron Fist v1 #8, 1976 - The title character returns to the family home in New York, only to be haunted by memories of his parents. A stunning montage begins the issue, blending the figure of Iron Fist with a subway robbery in progress. Two more splash pages follow, displaying the hero's dynamic entrance and a series of kung fu moves (see interior page below). John Byrne's remaining pages are more tempered, allowing for adequate mood and pacing. This issue also marks the artist's first and only cover of the series, a straightforward yet powerfully iconic portrait. Interestingly, Byrne himself appears in the first scene as one of the potential mugging victims. This is 8 of 15 Iron Fist issues by Byrne. /// Byrne gallery
