X-men #128 |
X-Men v1 #128, 1979 - Proteus takes over his estranged father's body, wreaking havoc throughout the city. The X-men attack, trying to separate him from his hostage, Moira MacTaggart. The villain's reality twisting powers are most evident on
John Byrne's opening page. The buildings undulate around him like images in a funhouse mirror. Toward the end, a final confrontation between combatants results in a massive crackling explosion. Byrne simulates this beautifully with a pattern of finely interwoven lines in concentric loops. This bronze age issue also includes cover art by George Perez. This is 20 of 35
X-men issues by
Byrne.
