House of Mystery #197 - Nestor Redondo art, Neal Adams cover

Neal Adams
House of Mystery v1 #197, 1971 - When strangers move into an old decrepit mansion, a witness claims to see two people carrying a coffin inside. Nestor Redondo illustrates the first of many tales for this series. The panels are heavy with dialogue, leaving less room for artwork. Still, the characters and settings are drawn with skill and polish. The family's portrait on page 5 panel 3 is eerily lit, with no lack of effort or detail. Neal Adams' cover of children on an abandoned raft is adequate but more crowded than usual. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Dick Dillin and Jack Sparling. This is 19 of 26 House of Mystery issues by Adams and 3 of 16 House of Mystery issues by Redondo. /// Redondo gallery
