Batman v1 #219, 1970 - The Capitol Building in Washington DC serves as a backdrop for this competent
Neal Adams cover. The artist's first story for the series is not the main feature, but a Christmas-themed back-up tale. On the eve of the holiday, the Batman takes a break among police officers while potential crimes and tragedies occur. The most pivotal scenes are devoid of dialogue, leaving most of the storytelling to Adams' visuals. Despite some odd colored panels (page 1 for example), the artwork exceeds expectations. Dick Giordano's inking is terrific. This story was later reprinted in
Limited Collectors' Edition C-43 and
Christmas with the Super-heroes #1. Other artists in this comic include John Guinta and Irv Novick. This is 5 of 30
