Showcase #73 - Steve Ditko art & cover + 1st Creeper

Showcase v1 #73 featuring Beware the Creeper, 1968 - Created by Steve Ditko, the Creeper makes his first appearance. The cover is unusually text heavy, with typography somewhat competing with the main figure. Inside, the hero's origin story is told, along with his adoption of his strange costume. Ditko's opening splash sets a dramatic tone with its bold layout and linework. Subsequent pages are competently drawn, although some are more crowded than others. Thankfully, large panels toward the end allow more room for more action. The Creeper would soon debut his own self-titled series. This origin story was later reprinted in Detective Comics #443.
