Russ Heath |
G.I. Combat v1 #80, 1960 - A seasoned corporal leads Charlie company a take a hill from the Nazis. Unfortunately, the enemy moved downhill in a position to be an obstacle for their return. As usual, Joe Kubert's artwork is tightly drawn but loose enough to elicit excitement. His work is usually the lone standout in most war books, but Russ Heath's dogfight cover steals the spotlight. The cockpit view puts readers square in the enemy's sights and oncoming plane glows against a cool background. Other artists in this issue include Jack Abel. This is 26 of 190 G.I. Combat issues by Kubert. /// select Heath cover
