Creepy #86 - Bernie Wrightson, Al Williamson art

Creepy #86

Creepy v1 #86, 1977 - Dying from an unstated disease, young Peter takes comfort in the adventures of a hero in a magazine. Bernie Wrightson inks Carmine Infantino's pencils in this special Christmas-themed issue. Unfortunately, his style is barely perceptible throughout the pages. By contrast, Al Williamson's tale of a caretaker robot on a spaceship is typical of his clean, precise approach. Though not necessarily enhancing the artwork, the story is the only on printed in duotone (black and red). This story was later reprinted in Creepy #137. Other artists in this bronze age magazine include John Severin. This is 15 of 19 Creepy issues by Wrightson and 7 of 8 Creepy issues by Williamson. /// Wrightson gallery
