Frank Brunner bio

Frank Brunner (1949-) - After studying at Manhattan's School of Art and Design, Brunner's first published work appeared in the 1969 comic magazine Web of Horror #3. In the subsequent decade, the artist worked almost exclusively for Marvel, revitalizing Doctor Strange and popularizing Howard the Duck. He also produced several Marvel bronze age covers for horror, superhero, sword-and-sorcery and jungle-themed comics. Brunner generously applied smooth, flowing brushwork to his illustration, often darkening the mood and setting. His style nonetheless added a richness to every contribution and effort.
