Brave and the Bold v1 #44 presents Hawkman, 1962 -
Joe Kubert's last issue featuring the winged wonder contains two memorable stories. Innovative thinking foils a gang of thieves in “Earth's Impossible Day”, while strange animal-headed men try to revive an ancient city in “The Men Who Moved the World”. Kubert's skillful draftsmanship appears throughout the issue, including his fine cover. His linework is precise, characteristic of his work during the 1960s. The former (later reprinted in
Adventure Comics #413) has better linework and layouts overall than the latter (reprinted in
Detective Comics #438). Both stories were reprinted in the
Hawkman trade paperback. This is 31 of 33
Brave and the Bold issues by
Kubert. ///
