Brave and the Bold #40 - Joe Kubert art & cover

Joe Kubert
Brave and the Bold v1 #40, 1962 - Deep underground, adventurer Cave Carson and crew battle a would-be sorcerer with strangely powered crystals. In his first and only rendition of the title character, Joe Kubert does an outstanding job. His drawings are enthusiastically detailed, from the vast cavernous spaces (see interior page below) to the oversized lizards and rock monsters. Three full page splashes augment this already impressive effort. This is number 28 of 33 Brave and the Bold issues with Kubert art and/or covers (not including reprints). See today's posts or more Kubert or Brave and the Bold issues. See also this blog's Kubert checklist.
