Creepy magazine v1 #87, 1977 - In this special issue, the planet Mars is the theme that permeates all the stories. The most significant of these is "A Martian Saga", told in verse and draw
n by Bernie Wrightson. Each page is laid out in four equally vertical panels (see interior page below). Each panel is lushly illustrated, using textures and fine brushstrokes throughout. Like much of his magazine work from the 1970s, this tale showcases some of Wrightson's best work. This story was later reprinted in
Creepy #113 and
Berni Wrightson Master of the Macabre #3. Separately, the artist draws a single page of various Martians from literature (two panels are replicated on the front cover). Other artists in this bronze age magazine include Gray Morrow, Carmine Infantino and Ralph Reese. This is 16 of 19
