Joe Kubert |
Tarzan of the Apes v1 #211, 1972 - A newspaper strip story by Burne Hogarth is re-purposed for this issue, its panels recomposed for the comic book format.
Joe Kubert draws the first three pages, then adds panels throughout the tale where necessary, Despite adhering to Hogarth's character designs, Kubert's style is looser and grittier, making his contributions more obvious. I count twelve panels scattered throughout the story, perhaps more. Although a reprint issue, Kubert also comes through with a terrifically eye-catching cover. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Hal Foster (reprints). This is 5 of 44
Tarzan issues by
Kubert.

It"s obvious that Joe Kubert added to the Burne Hogarth story, but the addisions don"t hurt anything. An interesting experiment, not sure many could get away with.
