Astonishing Tales #3
Astonishing Tales v1 #3 featuring Ka-Zar and Dr. Doom, 1970 - A revolution threatens to unseat Dr. Doom from his ironclad dictatorship. Wally Wood illustrates the destruction that follows with great skill. Lights and darks are used to dramatic effect throughout the story (this story was later reprinted in the Marvel Comics Art of Wally Wood). In the second tale, the Petrified Man implores Ka-Zar to return with him to his native Savage Land. Barry Smith's style seems a perfect fit for the character: primitively drawn but with no less entusiasm. This bronze age comic was later reprinted in Savage Tales annual #1. This is 1 of 5 Astonishing Tales issues by Smith art and 3 of 4 Astonishing Tales issues by Wood
